Does anyone remember who used to post their .ini tweaks? There was one person that used to have very extensive tweaks and would post them here almost like a mod. I remember the differences were really great. However, I have lost my bookmark for those topics and haven't come up with anything in my searches. Could anyone help me out with a name or a link?? Thanks!

...for Morrowind?

Well this is the Morrowind mod forums. smile.gif Yes, for Morrowind.
I would like those too. I used to have them bookmarked but with the forum in flux the topic wouldn't come up for bumping and it got deleted cry_smile.gif

If anyone still has the tweaks and can post them or knows the original author please post them. Thanks in advance.
I do know who made them, it was quidproquo, however the topics have been deleted because of how old they were. I will see if he still has them, but he doesn't come on MSN very often at the moment...
EDIT: Wow I'm stupid... I'm using one of his ini tweaks right now! I'll just copy and paste... Don't blame him if it doesn't work properly or if it screws up your game. Just remember to MAKE A BACK UP COPY OF YOUR MORROWIND.INI FILE!!!!

[Question 1]
Question=On a clear day you chance upon a strange animal, its leg trapped in a hunter's clawsnare. Judging from the bleeding, it will not survive long.
AnswerOne=Draw your dagger, mercifully ending its life with a single thrust?
AnswerTwo=Use herbs from your pack to put it to sleep?
AnswerThree=Do not interfere in the natural evolution of events, but rather take the opportunity to learn more about a strange animal that you have never seen before?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA1.wav

[Question 2]
Question=One summer afternoon your father gives you a choice of chores.
AnswerOne=Work in the forge with him casting iron for a new plow?
AnswerTwo=Gather herbs for your mother who is preparing dinner?
AnswerThree=Go catch fish at the stream using a net and line?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA2.wav

[Question 3]
Question=Your cousin has given you a very embarassing nickname and, even worse, likes to call you it in front of your friends. You have asked him to stop, but he finds it very amusing to watch you blush.
AnswerOne=Beat up your cousin, then tell him that if he ever calls you that nickname again, you will bloody him worse than this time.
AnswerTwo=Make up a story that makes your nickname a badge of honor instead of something humiliating.
AnswerThree=Make up an even more embarrassing nickname for him and use it constantly until he learns his lesson.
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA3.wav

[Question 4]
Question=There is a lot of heated discussion at the local tavern over a group of people called 'Telepaths'. They have been hired by certain City-State kings. Rumor has it these Telepaths read a person's mind and tell their lord whether a follower is telling the truth or not.
AnswerOne=This is a terrible practice. A person's thoughts are his own and no one, not even a king, has the right to make such an invasion into another human's mind.
AnswerTwo=Loyal followers to the King have nothing to fear from a Telepath. It is important to have a method of finding assassins and spies before it is too late.
AnswerThree=In these times, it is a necessary evil. Although you do not necessarily like the idea, a Telepath could have certain advantages during a time of war or in finding someone innocent of a crime.
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA4.wav

[Question 5]
Question=Your mother sends you to the market with a list of goods to buy. After you finish you find that by mistake a shopkeeper has given you too much money back in exchange for one of the items.
AnswerOne=Return to the store and give the shopkeeper his hard-earned money, explaining to him the mistake?
AnswerTwo=Decide to put the extra money to good use and purchase items that would help your family?
AnswerThree=Pocket the extra money, knowing that shopkeepers in general tend to overcharge customers anyway?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA5.wav

[Question 6]
Question=While in a market place you witness a thief cut a purse from a noble. Even as he does so, the noble notices and calls for the city guards. In his haste to get away, the thief drops the purse near you. Surprisingly, no one seems to notice the bag of coins at your feet.
AnswerOne=Pick up the bag and signal to the guard, knowing that the only honorable thing to do is return the money to its rightful owner?
AnswerTwo=Leave the bag there, knowing that it is better not to get involved?
AnswerThree=Pick up the bag and pocket it, knowing that the extra windfall will help your family in times of trouble?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA6.wav

[Question 7]
Question=Your father sends you on a task which you loathe, cleaning the stables. On the way there, pitchfork in hand, you run into your friend from the homestead near your own. He offers to do it for you, in return for a future favor of his choosing.
AnswerOne=Decline his offer, knowing that your father expects you to do the work, and it is better not to be in debt?
AnswerTwo=Ask him to help you, knowing that two people can do the job faster than one, and agree to help him with one task of his choosing in the future?
AnswerThree=Accept his offer, reasoning that as long as the stables are cleaned, it matters not who does the cleaning?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA7.wav

[Question 8]
Question=Your mother asks you to help fix the stove. While you are working, a very hot pipe slips its moorings and falls towards her.
AnswerOne=Position yourself between the pipe and your mother?
AnswerTwo=Grab the hot pipe and try to push it away?
AnswerThree=Push your mother out of the way?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA8.wav

[Question 9]
Question=While in town the baker gives you a sweetroll. Delighted, you take it into an alley to enjoy, only to be intercepted by a gang of three other kids your age. The leader demands the sweetroll, or else he and his friends will beat you and take it.
AnswerOne=Drop the sweetroll and step on it, then get ready for the fight?
AnswerTwo=Give him the sweetroll now without argument, knowing that later this afternoon you will have all your friends with you and can come and take whatever he owes you?
AnswerThree=Act like you're going to give him the sweetroll, but at the last minute throw it in the air, hoping that they'll pay attention to it long enough for you to get a shot in on the leader?
Sound=Vo\Misc\CharGen QA9.wav

[Question 10]
Question=Entering town you find that you are witness to a very well-dressed man running from a crowd. He screams to you for help. The crowd behind him seems very angry.
AnswerOne=Rush to the town's aid immediately, despite your lack of knowledge of the circumstances?
AnswerTwo=Stand aside and allow the man and mob to pass, realizing that it is probably best not to get involved?
AnswerThree=Rush to the man's aid immediately, despite your lack of knowledge of the circumstances?

[Level Up]
Level1=Your journey has begun, many dangers await you in the shadows. You should never hesitate to gain a level.
Level2=You realize that all your life you have been coasting along as if you were in a dream. Suddenly, facing the trials of the last few days, you have come alive.
Level3=You realize that you are catching on to the secret of success. It's just a matter of concentration.
Level4=It's all suddenly obvious to you. You just have to concentrate. All the energy and time you've wasted -- it's a sin. But without the experience you've gained, taking risks, taking responsibility for failure, how could you have understood?
Level5=Everything you do is just a bit easier, more instinctive, more satisfying. It is as though you had suddenly developed keen senses and instincts.
Level6=You sense yourself more aware, more open to new ideas. You've learned a lot about Morrowind. It's hard to believe how ignorant you were -- but now you have so much more to learn.
Level7=You resolve to continue pushing yourself. Perhaps there's more to you than you thought.
Level8=The secret does seem to be hard work, yes, but it's also a kind of blind passion, an inspiration.
Level9=Everything you do is just a bit easier, more instinctive, more satisfying. It is as though you had suddenly developed keen senses and instincts.
Level10=You woke today with a new sense of purpose. You're no longer afraid of failure. Failure is just an opportunity to learn something new.
Level11=Being smart doesn't hurt. And a little luck now and then is nice. But the key is patience and hard work. And when it pays off, it's SWEET!
Level12=You can't believe how easy it is. You just have to go -- a little crazy. And then, suddenly, it all makes sense, and everything you do turns to gold.
Level13=It's the most amazing thing. Yesterday it was hard, and today it is easy. Just a good night's sleep, and yesterday's mysteries are today's masteries.
Level14=Today you wake up, full of energy and ideas, and you know, somehow, that overnight everything has changed. What a difference a day makes.
Level15=Today you suddenly realized the life you've been living, the punishment your body has taken -- there are limits to what the body can do, and perhaps you have reached them. You've wondered what it is like to grow old. Well, now you know.
Level16=You've been trying too hard, thinking too much. Relax. Trust your instincts. Just be yourself. Do the little things, and the big things take care of themselves.
Level17=Life isn't over. You can still get smarter, or cleverer, or more experienced, or meaner -- but your body and soul just aren't going to get any younger.
Level18=The challenge now is to stay at the peak as long as you can. You may be as strong today as any mortal who has ever walked the earth, but there's always someone younger, a new challenger.
Level19=You're really good. And that's why it's so hard to get better. But you just keep trying, because that's the way you are.
Level20=You'll be better than you are today. If you are lucky, by superhuman effort, you can avoid slipping backwards for a while. But sooner or later, you're going to lose a step, or drop a beat, or miss a detail -- and you'll be gone forever.
Level21=Year's of training seem to be paying for them self now. But there is still much, much more to be for you to learn.
Level22=Today you woke with a strange feeling of anticipation; you know that godliness is just beyond the horizon.
Level23=As you look down into the little drop of moisture that has accumulated on a leaf, you suddenly see your life flash before your eyes. The things you have seen... The things left to see...
Level24=So your not the strongest or the quickest, but your one of'em. Your still young to the world and there are perils that await the weary so stay sharp.
Level25=More time is needed to study the arts of combat... Well, why are you still standing here? Go study!
Level26=All the knowledge in the world couldn't make you the best, no matter how many books you read. You have to get practice on real life creatures to gain the knowledge you seek. As of now, you aren't ready for a blighted rat.
Level27=Today you open your eyes to a peaceful sight, as you lie on your side you watch the wind blow across the grass and let it entrance your senses. You feel at peace with all things and better to be alive.
Level28=Congratulations!
Level29=You have learned what carelessness and running into a situation blindly can do. For this reason you have levelled, so that you may be ready for what still awaits in the dark corners of this land.
Level30=A year ago you would have never believed you would be fighting Cliff Racers one minute and running from a pack of angry Nix-Hounds the next. But here you stand none the less, very much alive and full of fire.
Level31=Some things never change, with you things always change, and with time you will learn to accept it.
Level32=As a result of your hard work and dedication to your studies you have advanced another level.
Level33=That's it, hard work is the key, keep it up.
Level34=Congratulations!
Level35=The time grows longer now, you should rest in a tavern of a near by village and catch up on some lore. For the many nights spent away, you have been left feeling disconnected from your fellow kinsmen.
Level36=As you enter towns, you feel that you have a right to be proud, a right to stand strong! Well for the most part you do.
Level37=As you gain more and more levels you become braver in the quests that you have taken on. Don't get your self in to deep.
Level38=With all this talk about adventures meeting there end, you think that it will never happen to you, for you have seen sights that would turn a sane man mad. You laugh at the thought...
Level39=Congratulations!
Level40=You side step the thrust of the enemies blade. You return with a twirl, jab, jab, slash. Your enemy lies mortally wounded on the ground. All of a sudden you wake from your dream, you have advanced another level.
Level41=Stay on your toes, now is no time to get careless. There is much work to be done if you are to keep advancing.
Level42=As you wake, you see that meditation has helped you channel your thoughts. For your hours of meditation you receive another level.
Level43=Things seem so much more in focus; you are becoming quite the noble adventurer.
Level44=Hero yay, hero nay. Not that it maters, it would seem hard times are ahead.
Level45=The fog of this land sinks into your very bones. You try hard to shake it but the feeling is too real. You tell your self that it will pass.
Level46=Sea's of ghosts and never ending hordes of Draught now consume your thoughts. Your mind is clouded as you think of your death... If you become too careless you tell yourself... But instead you result to pushing harder, harder then you ever have to advance.
Level47=As you sit on the wet grass you find your attention is drawn to a single blade of grass. You soon after cup the blade between your thumbs and give a short burst of air; oddly it makes a high pitched "CHEEEEEP" as the air passes over the blade. You stand up feeling as if you have just invented the wheel.
Level48=A vision of Red Mountain consumes your thoughts. You remember ancient times and long forgotten treasures and the battles fought on its slopes. You feel as if it is familiar to you in some way...
Level49=Congratulations!
Level50=Strange, you regain consciousness to an odd odour. Time for a swim you say to yourself. All this meditation has left you in a cold sweet.
Level51=What is this, a new level gained. It is time for celebration.
Level52=you have refined your meditation methods; also you have gained a level.
Level53=Light reflects off moisture that has accumulated around you. As it reflects it is sent in many different directions making for a beautiful sight.
Level54=you lie on your back thinking of better times...
Level55=So you feel that you are one bad mother, maybe even the badst. Well in some scenes you are but there are still things to improve.
Level56=A little buzzing wakes you from your meditation; you let your vision focus on the source of the noise. It is but a little fly that has interrupted you. You pay it no mind and continue to meditate.
Level57=There it is again, that buzzing. You are feed up and stalk the fly. After catching it you study the insect for a moment. Between your two fingers, as you look at it you become enraged that it has intruded. You squash it, and say yourself, Silly fly.
Level58=In the middle of your meditation you find yourself drained. As you let your concentration down you realize that you have already levelled.
Level59=The time has come for you to become a more respectable being, you have gained a level.
Level60=You envision far off landscapes and mysterious treasures and ancient artifacts that are yet to be found...
Level61=During your meditation you where able to channel your concentration to almost obtain an out of body experience. Your manipulations of the mind and hard work have lead to another level up.
Level62=You awake with a new sense of purpose, you set off in hope of finding something worthy of your interest.
Level63=You are getting stronger and stronger all of the time. You resort to crushing little bugs and plants between your feet for pleasure.
Level64=As the days go by things that escaped you are now then are now so clear, and things that you once new seem distant. Things are changing and with them you are changing.
Level65=In the distant reaches of your mind you see many different symbols. After aligning them in a correct order... You come to.
Level66=So far you have been quick and cunning, fast and steady. What better reward then to escape with your life?
Level67=The use of magic alone will not be the answer, you must train in sword play and armour wearing as well if you are to survive.
Level68=Many visions float through your thoughts; you notice strange underground caverns and many statues of noble and evil beings. You wonder where it could be... Some distant land perhaps.
Level69=Congratulations!
Level70=You are almost a master of your mind and body. You have seen many beauties and many horrors. You are a living legend.
Level71=You thought you had it figured, you did! But you don't, you should spend some more time studying and refining your skills. Try searching the land for some treasure or a new lair to horde your trinkets. This place hides many secrets...
Level72=As soon as you began your meditation, you notice something strange, something different... As you entered the state of semi-consciousness you see a gleaming green and blue light. It was as if it was calling to you. As you approach it, you study it over quickly. An instant later you pluck it from the air. It has strange hinges and markings. You fiddle with it and it snaps open. Inside there is a note, it reads "Congratulations".
Level73=So you boast of your accomplishments and parade around like you are a god, this may get you into trouble if your not careful. There will always be enemies lurking in the shadows, just beyond your sight...
Level74=Things are moving quite quickly, as for your studies they seem to be worth the extra effort that you put in to learn a new skill.
Level75=All the running and dogging has maid you weary. You should take a small rest at a local temple or shrine to clear your mind and cleanse your soul.
Level76=In your meditation you are standing on top of a very high pole. The width of the pole is very small. Balanced with one foot you begin your training.
Level78=The sweat from your meditation has built up on your brow, instinctively you wipe it off. As the drip of sweat drops to the ground your concentration is on the drop. It is as if the drop is moving in slow motion. It gives you a strange sense of peace.
Level79=Congratulations!
Level80=this meditation was the channelling of magic between your hands. Back and forth it went. At first it was hard to grasp but being smart and a quick problem solver, you eventually got it right.
Level81=As you prepare for your meditation you imagine what it will be like, and what tomorrow will bring.
Level82=In your meditation a mysterious figure approaches you. In a strange voice the figure speaks to you yet remains unseen. You have made quite a name for your self and your feats have impressed many but you should remain cautious if you are to stay virtuous.
Level83=Long have you awaited this moment, you are finally ready for the many dangers of the world, that up until now where beyond your skills and abilities.
Level84=Congratulations!
Level85=It comes clearer then ever, for all your hard work you are learning that not everything is what it seems to be. You have learned that in order to succeed you must press on and not give up. Failure is not an option you must press on.
Level86=Things are coming easier now. For awhile things were looking grim but you rose above it and remained victorious.
Level87=Congratulations!
Level88=To master the mind and body you must prepare. The meditation will be long and drain you, but your determination will see you trough, you have come so far you must press on.
Level89=Mastery of body and mind is not an easy task, but it will come. You have learned much, try to be patient.
Level90=If it weren’t for your remarkable senses you would never have made it this far. You sit down with a sense of accomplishment knowing that no one can ever take this from you, no one.
Level91=It would seem that you have still a couple tricks left.
Level92=You gain a level as you sit motionless and watch the world passing by.
Level93=A breeze passes over you, refreshing and breathes new life into your old weary bones. It is nice that you, after all the things you have been through can still enjoy nature and its wonders.
Level94=It was not long ago that this all seemed like a dream. So why does it seem like it was?
Level95=Congratulations!
Level96=You have slain monsters, crushed evil demons, and sent those hordes of undead back to the dark hole that the climbed out of. Your deeds are legendary and amazing are the stories told about them.
Level97=You may be the strongest mortal ever or the strongest, equalled by none.
Level98=It has been quite the adventure; a mere mortal could never have survived. You did though... this is cause for a celebration you have earned it.
Level99=Many have fallen by your hand, and there are still many that will. You laugh at your opponents as they cower before you.
Default=Your soul burns like brightest hellfire. Your mastery of the arts is legendary. Your knowledge and wisdom is second to none. You have more trinkets then you can shake a stick at. You are a god!

Well this is the Morrowind mod forums. smile.gif Yes, for Morrowind.

sorry, but i've seen so many Oblivion Mods threads in here lately, and INI tweakings are high-rated today biggrin.gif

QUOTE(~Ninja Monkey @ Mar 30 2006, 05:03 AM) *

I do know who made them, it was quidproquo, however the topics have been deleted because of how old they were. I will see if he still has them, but he doesn't come on MSN very often at the moment...
EDIT: Wow I'm stupid... I'm using one of his ini tweaks right now! I'll just copy and paste... Don't blame him if it doesn't work properly or if it screws up your game. Just remember to size=7MAKE A BACK UP COPY OF YOUR MORROWIND.INI FILE!!!!
CODE
<snip>

except AllowYesToAll/99lvlMessages/DontThreadLoad is there anything else in there that is interesting ?

@Eskrimador: you can play with:
Show FPS=1 -> get a FPS display in the lower right corner of the screen

Interior Cell Buffer=96 (1/4 of RAM)
Exterior Cell Buffer=128 (3/4 of RAM)
setting these (roughly at these sizes, but any size bigger than default is ok; i use 96/128 since i have 256Mb RAM) will get you *longer but fewer* LoadingArea pauses

UseLinear=0 =>disable this so you can use Quadratic
UseQuadratic=1 => teh better light system
QuadraticRadiusMult=1.25 => a little bit brighter (experiments needed)

also, if you're machine can handle it you can set: High Detail Shadows=1 (in the [General] section), but this wil usually give you a 80% fps hit biggrin.gif
Thanks NinjaMonkey your my hero biggrin.gif

It does various visual changes as well. At night the skies look like this...

And I think this is what it looks like in the morning hours...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Nin...eenShot1224.jpg

W00t, and other such nonsensical thingies, This came at the perfect time since I've been looking for these for about 10 hours now and was aboot to post my own thread. I'll use this in a heartbeat if somone will tell me what all this does. I mean, I know what it does is alter certain weather/game statistics but I don't know exactly what it changes in game eh?

[sarcasm]Well thank you time travelling ~Ninja Monkey,[/sarcasm] But is that all this tweak does?

If you mean does it make it clear while you are underwater then yes, it looks beautiful when you have a wildlife mod.
YES! THANK YOU ~NINJA MONKEY!... I LOVE YOU!... I guess...
Is there something in there that increases the draw distance? Also what is the part JUST for the water mist. And if there is draw distance one .. what is the that?

I can't mess with my ini file because of ambiec sounds.

This .ini includes the following:

-Huge moons
-Crimson sunset
-Along with the crimson sun set each weather type has new sky and veiw distance fog when sunset rolls around
-Custom veiw distance color
-Added level up sayings all the way to level 100 done by
-Allow yes to all enabled... this lets you skip all those annoying errors
-Sets max fps to 25 making the game a little bit smoother(Thanks Runi!)
-Makes the water "clean" so that when you are underwater you no longer see the weird mist.
-Enables Screenshots
-Changes the light the sun gives off
-Changes the sky color

Here's the Clear Water mod, but you can also see Haddock's reply at the same page which says:

To get the clear water
Open your Morrowind.ini file and about 1/3 down the way, you will see [Water] you must change the last 6 entries there.
from:

UnderwaterDayFog=2.5
UnderwaterSunsetFog=3
UnderwaterNightFog=4
UnderwaterIndoorFog=3
UnderwaterColor=012,030,037
UnderwaterColorWeight=0.85

to:

UnderwaterDayFog=0.10
UnderwaterSunsetFog=0.10
UnderwaterNightFog=0.10
UnderwaterIndoorFog=0.10
UnderwaterColor=012,030,037
UnderwaterColorWeight=0.45

Soooo... I suppose 'mist' is the same as 'fog'.

Thanks
so, since I know nothing about ini settings smile.gif does someone know if there is anything in this ini setup that would negatively affect my fps? I'm running on a very minimal system.
Increasing the values of water settings (i.e. resoultion, Tile Counts, refresh times, etc, etc) will lower your FPS.

I have mine at very high settings (since my PC can handle it) and it looks much better. No delay with the reflections on the surface.

Try changeing:
Disable Audio=0

to
Disable Audio=1

WARNING:
Sometimes changing your sound levels to 0 can cause stuttering/decreasted preformance

I am not sure if it is also true in this case

Not just stuttering and decreased performance, if I set music volume to 0 in options then my game actually becomes unplayable - I can't turn more than a few degrees left or right.

I think it dpenends on the computer, I can play [Just] with Volume 0

It would be intresting to see wether disable audio=1 causes this aswell
Turning down the music is pointless, the whole is that I want to stop the game processing audo completely.

I just went and tested, it appears (at first glance, at least) to play fine when disabled via .ini.
That's good.

whats the difference between Quadratic and Linear? conserning FPS and prettyness

Well i guess it's a matter of personal taste and Graphic cards. I use Quadratic lighting because of Illuminated windows, and i realy like it this way. (And i have Geforce FX 5200)

I find it to be more realistic lighting when using Quadratic. (IMO) smile.gif

wavey.gif
buuut i'm guessing quadratic is also a heavier hit on frame rate as compared to linear..once again, FPS vs prettiness... i do find it a bit contradicting that people will get all these high rez textures and high poly items to make MW look better, then tweak the INI to lessen graphics for extra FPS

First off, quadric won't affect FPS negatively.
And then, a lot of texture replacers, even high rez ones do not cause a FPS hit on most computers. High poly objects do, however.
Interesting ini file there Ninja Monkey. I noticed the "extensive" expansion of the level up messages. I believe I will be making use of those at the very least. wink.gif
Does anyone know what these lines in the morrowind.ini mean and what would happen if I turn them on?

There was also this topic which had some nice tweaks to the lighting settings.
biggrin.gif Thank yous macroidtoe.

Quadratic Lighting has absolutely NO FPS gain. I don't know why people think it does, and I doubt anyone has actually done any testing. I have. It doesn't matter if you use Linear, Quadratic, Constant, all three, with small or large values. The FPS does not change, only the visuals. As such, I use a combination of all three methods, which I outlined in that thread. I'm still trying to find the perfect mix, but for my card, the "phi²" hack works the best:

CODE
UseConstant=1
ConstantValue=0.382

UseLinear=1
LinearMethod=1
LinearValue=1
LinearRadiusMult=1

UseQuadratic=1
QuadraticMethod=2
QuadraticValue=2.619
QuadraticRadiusMult=1

And since it's partially personal taste, and partially what your graphics card can support, this might not look right for everyone.

And, I know this thread is old, but someone posted above that they use Cell Buffers of 192 and 384!!! This is BAD! The Cell Buffers aren't megabyte sizes, they're numbers of cells to load into active memory. Loading 384 exterior cells at once is murder, I'll bet that guy only gets to play for 2 hours at a time.

If you have a slow computer, setting these values very low can help alot. If you have a fast computer with alot of memory, LEAVE THEM ALONE, 10 and 32 buffered cells will be plenty. Buffered Cells take alot of memory.
Here is what Quid Quo Pro wrote about it, I keep a copy in my documents.

Yeah, 1/4 of the RAM is patently ridiculous.

I have 256 MB of RAM. Before I adjusted the default values, I could play vanilla Morrowind for two hours before it started bogging down to the point where it actually took far longer to load cells out of the buffer. With a lot of mods installed, this could shrink down to a half hour. I'd have to restart every time I visited two big cities.

Now I use values of 0 for the interior cells and 2 for the exterior cells. Much, much longer-lasting sessions now. Sure, the cells have to load off disk a lot more often. But as I said, in the long-term this is actually faster. When the computer is asked to store more data than the RAM can support, it slows down drastically.
Yep. In RAM, access times for stored bytes of information is measured in the nanoseconds. When you run out of RAM, the extra is dumped off into a file on disk called a page file. Access times to retrieve data from the page file measure in the milliseconds. And Morrowind doesn't like being told to wait, it'll throw an error out and CTD before it gets the information, since the computer told it to wait.

-How do I get just these settings?

-How do these exactly look like? if anyone has screenshots..and also how to get these settings if I like it

I really appreciate the help =)
Here's the setting i use for now but i'm bound to change it:

UseQuadratic=1
QuadraticMethod=2
QuadraticValue=64.0
QuadraticRadiusMult=1.7

It's about perfect for interiors but exteriors do get a bit too bright.

I'd like to tweak the .ini file to make morrowind more colorful since changing it via the computer menus doesn't work, but that seems complicated, and i'd have to set values for every weather.
O.o

QUOTE
QuadraticValue=64

That value should make light disappear almost immediately. The Value is the attenuation, or how much the light goes down per unit traveled outward from the point source, squared (in the case of Quadratic lighting anyways). That should make the light disappear almost immediately after "leaving" the light source.

I need screenshots, this puts a Quadratic shaped hole in my lighting knowledge!

Although i use the clearer water settings from this post.

And Daedin Roxer, thanks for the interior/exterior cells values, they improved gameplay time a whole lot. foodndrink.gif
