Hey all,
I've got an idea for a tribute mod that I want to put together. Morrowind has never been the same for me ever since I discovered mods, some three and half years ago. I would not still be playing Morrowind if it wasn't for the modding.
But it's not the modding itself that makes it a wonderful thing. It's the modders. And I'd like to so something to recognize some of them.
Now, there have been a ton of forum threads where people write down who they respect and admire. That's not what this is. I'm going to honor them in the game itself...which seems to me to be the only appropriate way to do it.
I have a list in mind, but it's horribly small. So I want you to name the ONE modder that has influenced your gameplay more than anybody. I'm going for the exceptional, one-of-a-kind type of mod author out there. Also, those who have made utilities and various other things out there can be included.
So please help me out here! Thank you!

I think this is a really sensational idea Fliggerty, as all your ideas tend to be. I don't yet know who I'm going to choose, though I do have it narrowed down, I'll post again when I decide.

I know from talking to some of you modders, that most of you can point to one modder that made a HUGE difference in your modding career/experience. Please post who that was for you and any additional ideas you may have! YAY to the Morrowind Modding Community! I wub.gif you guys!!

i have a question about this could it be the person who inspires my moding, not my game its self and if that is would you mind if i help?
This a fantastic idea Fliggerty! I would have to say... Korana.
Though I love all of you guys in MW Modding community! wub.gif action-smiley-030.gif foodndrink.gif fing34.gif turt.gif

EDIT: well, seeing as everyone else is putting in morw than one, I'll do the same. Here's my updated list (Korana is included, I just won't put the name in because I've already got it above ^)

Princess Stomper
Cenobite
Emma and Grumpy (their mods were ( cry_smile.gif ) mainly done together so they count as one)
MadMax
Kalikut
Gorg
Canadian Ice
Myrabell_Narsil (I think she's all caught up in OB, or she doesn't play anymore)
BadKarma
Lady Rae
Quarl
Calislahn
Vagabond Angel

CG frog.gif
Utiltiys:Wrye without a doubt

Mods: Cortex
PirateLord for me, no question.
RedwoodTreesprite
Actually... could I possibly have 3 choices...? Cow Guru, Galsiah and Xereau?

I can't choose... unsure.gif
This is great so far! Thank you!

Just to help clarify:
QUOTE
Hiya,
I'm a little confused as to what you asking in your tribute thread, so I thought I'd PM you rather than clutter up your thread with questions.
Are we supposed to post the modder that changed how we play Morrowind the most, or are we supposed to post the modder that we respect the most?

Either one. I am going to make a massive hall will statues all along the sides. Each statue will have a plaque or something with the name of someone that has contributed to the modding community.
It's going to be pretty big, but obviously I can't do all of them. So I need to limit this to those exceptional modders and programmers that have revolutionized Morrowind and modding.
Mr. Dave. He has been an absolute angel and totally invaluable (Etymology: 1in- + value, v. + -able
: valuable beyond estimation : PRICELESS
) when it comes to helping me and without him my mods would never have seen the light of day.
Alienslof and Neoptlemus
Emma and Grumpy - for proving that companion mods were not just about making strippable lovelies that get stuck in rocks for people with no friends to leer at, but could be used to create memorable characters you actually cared about, who were a help instead of a hindrance, and good company on the road!

And Qarl... for making fabulous mods, and just for being Qarl! He is missed around these parts!

K.
Hmmm......I'll have to think about that biggrin.gif

I'd say:

* Fliggerty
* Rogue_Shadow
* Cenobite
* the_Inwah
* Oriphier
* Princess Stomper

The rest have been mentioned.

Yeah, I have a few more I would like to add to the list but he said only one so I had to limit it to the one who made it possible for me to mod.
I want to vote for kirel he made some really good simple mods that shouldve been put in the game by the devs.

And i miss rose! cry_smile.gif
Wow ..................................

that's hard

really hard ..........
I would hate to choose, cos apart from the community having so many good people with awesome talent, your idea just rocks ....

What about a kind of "MOD OSCARS" ???

for contribution to scripting : GhanBuriGhan (and many others) - from his title to the amazing scripting for dummies

ok ... these are the supporting cast ...

for proving that companion mods - Emma and Grumpy, Blackie, Vorwoda

for making MW people beautiful - the Psychodog Studios Better Bodies

for amazing utilities - Timeslip, Wrye, mentalelf, Alexander Stasenko, Argent, ghostwheel

for the editor of choice - Farren Hayden, Scarabus

for amazing textures - Misty Moon, Skydye, RedwoodTreesprite, Qarl,

look I need to work on my list Elric, Korana, Canadian Ice, Tommy K + Kat , TextureFreak, Kalikut, Baratheon79, Calislahn, Lady Rae, Fliggerty, Cenobite, Princess Stomper, MagicNakor, Enmesharra , TheFunkyOne

Yeah, I'm not picky...lol. One, two, three...whatever really. I was just hoping to avoid those page-long diatribes that state what we all know. I'm looking for those names, that when you hear them, you immediately think of what they have made...or vice versa. When I say Vampire Embrace, you immediately think of Cortex. Or Pegas Horse Ranch...Max a.k.a. ~NOBODY~.
So really, if you've got more than one, that's fine...but no explanation is necessary. That's in the very nature of this discussion.

Here's the beginnings of my list:

Everybody mentioned above...
All of the original Devs (though not modders, IMHO they belong on this list.)
Cortex
Max a.k.a. ~NOBODY~
Aerelorn
FreshFish
CDCooley
All of the BB team
CanadianIce
Leeloo
Zennorius
The Cutthroat Mods team
Carnithus
Marbred
GhanBuriGhan
MentalElf
GhostWheel
Phijama
TheLys
Dave Humphreys
VagabondAngel
Lochnarus
Neoptolemus
Toccatta
Horatio
The Puma Man
Dalin, APY, all of the Summit Staff.
Quatloos
Telesphoros
abot
Nevena

There's a million more, but that's what I can pull off the top of my head. That should give you an idea of what I'm looking for.
Ok, well in that case here is mine updated.

Mr. Dave
CanadianIce
Leeloo
Kalikut
Phijama
VagabondAngel
Qarl
Shannon
APY, Bryss and all of the Summit Staff.
Telesphoros

I just know I am missing some and that really bothers me.

I have one other small request. If you happen to have a current email address for anybody mentioned on this list (and you know they won't mind) I'd appreciate it if you would PM it to me. I'm looking through readmes now, but that's a lot to find.
I want to contact each of these individuals before I do this.
Thank you all!

Good call fing34.gif
I owe NIFLA so much
For the mod that has improved gameplay more than any other it would have to be Galisheah
However being a fairly vain person its the clothes that matter
Hard to pick a single modder out there but I think it would be Aleanne

edit: then again Qarl's headpacks have done so much for my characters

ok, Galisheah, Aleanne and Qarl in no special order and just ahead of many others
Korana (it was she who made me see how wonderfull mods can be)
Vagabond Angel
AlienSlof
Redtreewoodsprite
Phijama
Quarl
Canadianice
the_inwah
Fliggerty of course!
princess stomper

and so many more... I would say grumpy but emma requested that no one would make a mod with him in.
I am going to add some more (if these ones are OK
Tarnsman
Ronin49
OldeCow69

Elric_Melnibone
Monica21 (Forgive me if the name is wrong)

Dark0ne
DarkFLAME 24.gif

Not really.
Grumpy deservers a tribute mod. Piratelord deserves one too

I dont know the best way to honor them in a mod. I would say a graveyard with funny things but since Grumpy really died IRL I dont know if that would be appropriate.

In Anarchy Online they honored fans that helped them with posters on the wall. Perhaps a museum with objects and paintings and other artwork that relates to the people being honored would be ok. Museums are always fun to visit. You could fill it with tons of cool stuff

biggrin.gif
We must not forget Rhedd. His superb meshes form the base for many of the facepacks that are mentioned here.
Lingarn too.

How about we make a bunch of little action figures, and then you can buy them to put in your home. Each action figure would have a plaque with the name under it. Maybe not action figure, but trophy thing. Something like that. Maybe I'm crazy...
Fliggerty, I think you meant 'MadMax' rather than Max~AKA~Nobody as the creator of Pegas Horse Ranch.

However, I would like to nominate Max~AKA~Nobody in addition. For the same reasons, ModMan should also get a mention.

In addition to those named in posts above, I'd like to propose

Cait
Phoebe
iReni
ReflectioN
Edwardsmd for the tutorials
Lady Rae
RX31
Lingarn
Skydye
Mykul for the Dwemer Sky Glider mod, from whence the 'sitting pants' came.
mighty_joe_young
Dongle
Nomad
GhanBuriGhan for The Regulars, the first 'sitting NPCs' I ever saw
Schwaa
Gorg
Dave Humphrey
Allerleirauh (Rhedd's been mentioned)
(I think all the face-makers deserve a mention, really, in addition to those above. I mean, Zuldazug, Don Salus, UQForgotten, all of them...)
Atreus for Rain's Hand Hall
Actually, instead of action figures, it will be large statues. They will all be placed in "The Hall of Heros." I also want to have a lecturn in front of each one that has a book which contains a list of their contributions, a few select comments from fans, and hopefully a comment from the author.
This is obviously going to take a lot of correspondence, so let's get started. Say something nice (and intelligent, please...not just "I love your mods! You're so cool!" please...let's have some substance.) about your ONE (lol) favorite person listed here. Or you can PM it to me.
And, if you are on this list, let me know if you would like to included, and what your "acceptance speech" would be.

edit:

That's a good point...since it isn't all about modding, but about contributing to the community, there are lots of others not yet mentioned.
I'd have to add ManaUser and Enmesharra to the list...without them I wouldn't be half as able to script as I am.
Oh, in that case you'd have to add Pseron Wyrd, Telesphoros, cdcooley, oldecow69 and ps33 for a start...
ok if i can post mine now the modder that most inspires me would be rae, and if you dont mind i would like to do the ingame tribute to her in this, so tell me how you would like it and when. its just i seam to have a taste like her's.

Perhaps once I figure out which statues I want to use, you could retexture one of them in tye-die.
You could always just send me your verbal "tribute" that I will put in the appropriate book.

Looks like your list is nearing completion.
I would mention someone, but every one I would have
suggested has already been mentioned.

This is a great idea.
Good on ya!
Other than those already mentioned, I have a few others to suggest:

One is Grumblepunk, creator of Uvirith Unleashed and House of Mannequins. It was thanks to his help that I was able to join this forum (my ISP had technical issues with the registration confirmation emails...), so I wouldn't be here at all if not for his intervention. Since we're both Telvanni, I am the Mouth of Grumblepunk, in effect. wink.gif

Another is one of the most influential pioneers of Companion mods: the great UlfGeir. His groundbreaking "Slave Warrior Jessica" is the mod that opened the way for modern Companions. Most Companion modders (myself included) learned our craft by studying UlfGeir's work, or one of the other Companion mods which were derived from it. His importance to the field cannot be overemphasized. Like Grumpy and Emma, he is one of the true Immortals. As long as there are Companion mods, his work will live on.

Of course, in the same vein, Rukinea deserves singular mention. His Companion Ulfgood Romra was the very first Companion mod. So he REALLY started it all... wink.gif

well if i could give an idea, you could get some one who has model makeing skill and get them to make statues based on there avitar that they use the most, but that just my idea, it may not work.

Perhaps you could also incorporate a hall of paintings dedicated to the actual mods that they made.
They could depict the essential characteristics that made the mod so beneficial.

*edited for spelling*
I think a hall of paintings would be better. It would be harder to do but I think if you could show something that relates to their work like a bunch of cute animals for Cait and so forth.

That is a good idea. I think, though, that rather than a hall of paintings, I can just put pictures in the books. That's what they are there for...portraying why a statue was made in honor of a particular person.
That would work too. I book with somthign about their mods and their contribution to the communith and perhaps a picture, screenshot, or painting..

I also recommend that you take a long time making this mod to make sure you get as many of the heros in mod making as possible so that you dont insult any of the greats by leaving them out. Please take your time to get a good list and list only the greats that made this community possible

A hall of heros would be nice

biggrin.gif
Nice concept Fliggerty!

If I had to nominate only one it would be;

* Wakim, game balance pioneer
The extensive research into the game mechanics underlying his Wakim's Game Improvements mod elucidated the functionality of many of MW's arcane GMSTs, allowing us to fundamentally change how MW works.

In addition to being important work in it's own right, it was tinkering with this mod which caused me to first open the CS, and develop a deeper understanding of how modding MW worked. smile.gif

I will however take the opportunity to name several of other people who I feel deserve consideration;

* ThePal, it's the little things that matter
Building on work by several other authors, ThePal's all but comprehensive Unofficial Morrowind Patch has managed to rectify dozens of bugs and inconsistancies Bethesda left in MW & it's expansions, doing a great deal to make the game more consistent, immersive and enjoyable.

* Motoki, more than a pretty face
To the best of my knowledge introduced the concept of globally replacing NPC faces with NPC Replace, and then proceeded to take it to a whole new level with Better Heads, which in combination with BB finally gave us characters as visually appealing as the world they inhabited.

* The Unofficial History of Companions
Blackie, cdcooley, Cortex, Emma, Grumpy, & Vorwoda have already been mentioned, but there have been several other equally significant contributors to the field;
QUOTE
In summation:
1) Rukinea gave us Companions
2) UlfGeir, Grumpy, The_Other_Felix, and Dixon gave Companions brains
3) JB and Emma gave companions hearts.
4) [Vowoda the Black] gave Morrowind companions an effective share workaround.
5) Dracandros, TheLys and Cortex gave companions universality.

DinkumThinkum also deserves an honourable mention for his work on companion potion scripting after this article was written.
[edit: I see Vowoda has beaten me to the punch, consider this a second of his motion regarding Rukinea & UlfGeir smile.gif[/edit]

There are of course many others but of those not already mentioned these ones stand out for me.

PS: I would like to thank Yacoby & princess for mentioning me, however if this project is to extend to general contributions to the MW community my own efforts pale in comparison to Ronin49. I would also like to highlight Klinn's contributions in the CS forum, who along with ManaUser has been a stalwart of that board since I joined, helping explore many aspects of MW modding and guiding scores of budding modders as they took their first steps.
The most influential modder for me is Brash. She's also the cutest.

Okay, so this is the HUGE list we have compiled so far.
I have intention of contacting everyone I possibly can to ask if they want to be mentioned, and to let them know about this. I realize that a large number of these people are probably unreachable at this time. So I'm going to use this as a reference list. All names will be red until I have either contacted them, or recieved confirmation from someone that they are unreachable. When they are green, I have contacted them.
Also, as I haven't really paid attention to the community for more than the past year, a lot of these are unfamiliar to me. So if there is an { * } next to the name, it is someone I am unfamiliar with. I'll do some research and learn what they have done...but I'd really like to have as much input from you guys on this as possible. So please post here or drop me a note explaining what they have done for you. If you mentioned a name here, you can expect a PM from me asking why EXACTLY you "nominated" them, and expect that result to be put in the mod.
Also, I'm looking for screenshots of these mods and utilities in use. Please send them to me at cody@erekson.org. I'd like this to be something made by the community, for the community.

So the moment you have all been waiting for: THE LIST (which, by the way, I am incredibly humbled and flattered to have been mentioned on...it wasn't just to not hurt my feelings since I started this thread, is it?)

This list is, of course, still growing...so please continue to add names to it if we've missed anyone. I appreciate everyone's help in this. I really want to do something to honor those that have impacted my life in regards to Morrowind.
Rogue_Shadow;
Lead or contributor to several large shop/item compilation mods including;
The Golden Dragon
Death's Doorstep
Mournhold Bow Dealer
The Lost Artifacts of Morrowind
Eldanorcara (WIP)
Black Widow Robe
Also author of the Evil Mod list.

Blackie;
One of the leads of the Cutthroat Mods team, and has generally been their public face on the ESF boards. Cutthroat are perhaps best known for their Partners Mod, which introduced some unique companion features. Unfortunately their site seems to be down atm.

Vorwoda the Black;
A master of the black art of scripting. As mentioned in the link I provided earlier, implemented ground breaking companion share features in MW before Tribunal CompanionShare was available, and has helped many a poor soul with scripting problems over the years.

Alexander Stasenko;
Author of the FPS Optimizer, one of the first utilities to modify the MW executable on the fly in order to dynamically modify view distance to maintain FPS. A life saver for folks trying to run MW on less than stellar machines.

Farren Hayden;
Author of the Enchanted Editor, a sophisticated third party ESP editor which has enabled modders to go far beyond the limitations of the CS.

Scarabus (Erik Benerdal);
Author of TESAME, the first third party ESP editor, allowing access to the hidden subrecord data outside a hex editor for the first time.

MagicNakor;
One of MWs renaissance men, probably best known for Vampiric Visages (custom vamp heads) and If Wishes Were Horses, which I believe was the first horse riding mod in MW.

Psychodog Studios;
The full credits are in the readme, the principle authors of BB were;
Fariel: Textures
Zenorf: Modelling and skinning
Neuman: Putting the mod together

Shannon;
Leading architectural modeller, probably best known for her work on the Hellhouse mod. You'll find the most complete record of her work at TheLys forum I imagine.

Monica21;
Former moderator here at ESF, and together with Elricm one of the principles behind the Elricm database site.

Dark0ne;
Owner of the TESSource database site, details on his History of the site
(Speaking of database sites, has anyone mentioned MadPauly, who's nobly picked up the reigns at TheLys?)

Lingarn;
One of the pioneers of MW modelling, who among other things was the first person to release custom NPC animations.
(Has LadyE been mentioned yet, she & Proudfoot also contributed a lot of the early work on MW modelling).

Allerleirauh;
Texture artist for Rhedds heads, and one of the leading lights of the Lore forum.

Gorg;
One of the handful of modders who developed new head & hair meshes for MW, principly known for his contributions to Better Heads and Balmora Expanded.

Nomad;
Another pioneer of MW modelling, in particular a large series of custom head models.

JB;
Lead author of the famous Children of the Night mod series.
(Tanaka's Black Queen Chronicles should probably also be mentioned, a similarly ground breaking quest mod at the time).

Ronin49;
Along with Telesphoros co-founder of Mythic Mods, author of the Starting out with Mods, Finding and Using Mods pages, and established the Themed Mod lists, all of which have proved invaluable guides for those approaching the bewildering world of MW mods for the first time. And of course he's also done a mountain of work helping folk find what they're after on the ESF Mods forum

Klinn;
As mentioned in my previous post, has done a great deal helping new modders tackle the CS for the first time, which culminated in Klinn's Advice to New MW Modders page.
Taddeus and Nymeria.
I mean who hasn't tried NoM?

Vampire Realism
Shannon* (You might want to note that Shannon is a 'he'. wink.gif )

Monica21* In addition to the aforementioned ElricM stuff, Monica is also a gifted modder in her own right, having made one of my favourite house mods, Buyable Ghorak Manor.

Lingarn* As well as the animations, Lingarn also made the oft-used Interior Landform Meshes, which have been used by almost everyone using interiors as exteriors, e.g. the dance hall in Korana's Solstheim Castle where you can look through the window and see 'outside'.

(Would second the Lady Eternity & Proudfoot nomination, btw)

ModMan* Modman made Windowlights. Like Max~AKA~Nobody's Windows Glow (you can use both), it makes windows light up at night, which makes it among my favourite Morrowind mods. I was pleased to see that ModMan has recently done the same for Oblivion.

Atreus* Atreus AKA Bjorn Larsen made Rain's Hand Hall, one of the best-loved and most unusual house mods.
http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View....Detail&id=2064

Schwaa* Modeller best known for the superb potion replacer and scroll replacer packs.

Mykul* Most people are familiar with the 'sitting pants', the item of clothing that when equipped makes the wearer look as though they are sitting down. It is used in many mods where NPCs are sitting, such as The Regulars. It is also used in mods where the player looks like they are sitting, such as Sit Down In Morrowind. The sitting pants come from Mykul's Dwemer Sky Glider mod, which I think was the first mod to have player-propelled transport(?)

Phoebe* Phoebe's two houses, Abu Manor and Abu's Retreat, are regarded as true classics. Abu Manor is a beautifully-decorated house in Ald'ruhn that really feels like 'home'. Abu's Retreat is a gorgeous cottage in Pelagiad. Phoebe also made a number of modder's resources, such as a popular painting pack.

iReni* I didn't really know who iReni/Ren was before Rin's Beauty Shop, but I can say straight away that I wasn't the only person to almost drop my coffee the second I saw those screenshots. After making one of the most jaw-dropping head packs for Morrowind (all the more inventive for allowing the player to 'wear' the faces as helms), iReni now mods for Oblivion.

ReflectioN* Both versions of Vianden and Crehange Manor are based on real-life castles and stately homes in Europe. Using custom models, ReflectioN has made an intricate recreation of his favourite places lending a feeling of great atmosphere and authenticity to his mods.

I thought about making myself as maddeningly difficult to find as possible, but decided not to.

I vote Thelys.
So much I love but here are my Best at heart =

7. Qarl
8. Oriphier
9. Psychodog
10. Mantodea

I see in the list almost all the modders i know smile.gif
So i say someone that is still not in:

-All Khalazza Production Team and friends: Ayse, Lord Gabryael, Don Salus, Lord Yig and Zuldazug fing34.gif

I'll post others if i remember smile.gif
That's wonderful! Thank you OldeCow69 and princess_stomper. I realize, now that it's not almost midnight, that half of those names I am familiar with...especially once the name is put with the mod or the program. After all, I use practically everything mentioned!
I'm going to get to work with some mass PMing when I get home tonight.
They work as a team, so I think that should count like one modder. Lady E and Proudfoot. smile.gif

Their dedication to creating so many incredible modder resources, and the wonderous world they made as well. And they have always been so friendly and helpful towards new modders.
I remembered another.
Ely VanReen Soto

Plugin Conflict Detector
Whoever authored the Suran Archery Tradehouse mod, I don't know off of the top of my head.
Shanjaq!
You still don't have Brash on your list.

I can't, however, vouch for her cuteness.
What a marvelous idea.

A couple of names that I haven't seen that helped me a lot...

Regan
funkymonkey
Dimitri

given the list of people already mentioned, I think I'd have to add
Henkbein, for Private Mobile Base and Dwemer Cyborgs
Jeremy McGuinn, for his sets of armours
UQForgotton, for all those face packs
I probably wouldn't have opened the CS if not for being impressed by those
No question about it, for me it's Galsiah.

Already on the list? hehe
Great idea! Dont forget Wrye for his mash thing and be sure to make it so that its easy to add people in later patches for this mod if you forgot someone important

Awww....
So many greats on that list. Here are a couple more, but Im sure there are many more that need to be added:

Petrograd
Michael 'HelioS' Bennett (assassins armory)
Sorry if these have been named already.

AnOldFriend: Ought to be worthy enough to mention here =)

FreshFish: For the script extender is definietly noteworthy!

Nioliv: I think pretty much anybody use his meshes nowadays.

Maboroshi Daikon, for making the first real visual fixes to the beteseda bodies (hope I remembered this one correctly)

Thats it for those I don't remember from the list. There's so many more, but not on the top of my head right now.

Cheers people!
I'd say Bryss Phoenix (for getting me started) and Sniper Daria (for some fantastic asian mods).
There was the author of the Plugin Conflict Detector, how 'bout the TES Tool author?! Was he mentioned already?

The top two in my list would be Cortex and Sabregirl.

Cortex was in the list already, but I think people mostly remember about his Vampire Realism mod. Some people might have forgotten (or not tongue.gif) about his werewolf evolution mod, which is one of the first two mods that I put into my mod list; along with Sabregirl's werewolf realism. They were pretty much among the very few people who made major contribution to werewolf-related mods IMO (while there were tons of vampire mods out there, relatively speaking, compared to werewolf mods).

And then there would be Wyrn Mash of course (mentioned). Yacoby's site (which could be found very very easily on yahoo/google) was the most helpful in helping me to find all the werewolf/vampire mods out there, then there is his newly released reorder mod program (though there were a couple reordering programs before him tongue.gif but none as easily handled as his IMHO, since I'm lazy and his is most perfect for a lazy man like me tongue.gif).
Wow...I don't think I quite realized what I was getting myself into when I started this! lol
This is great! The list is growing very rapidly, and it seems like there's lots of enthusiasm over this. I really appreciate all of the names, and all of the information given to me.

I've come across one problem: the member search function here is disabled atm. So it's going to take me a while to get permission from everyone. So help me out...if you're on that list, post here and let me know if you'd like to be part of this.

Oh...and no humility allowed! If you're name's been mentioned, it's for a reason! Accept your moment of limelight and take a moment to gloat!
The Hall of Fame listing on PES will have a lot of great names on them too with their classic mods

biggrin.gif
I would like to add Lucypher and his PC Voice mods.

It filled in a void of the player having his/her own voice, and its easily customized. Now without playing in Morrowind in complete silence, my characters fill like they have a soul now.

Sure, sounds good - but if it's alright with you I'll feign humility and gloat in secret.
It's always worked for me in the past wink.gif.

Thanks for the mentions people. I am, as always, your humble servant.

As for suggestions I haven't gotten around to really playing a modded game yet, so I'm a bit short.
I am very grateful to the following people, whose frequent CS posts were very helpful in helping me learn TES scripting:
Manauser
Enmesharra

and of course to GhanBuriGhan (and many others).

One suggestion I do have that I've not seen so far is Mephisto. I've never used his mods (though I've heard good things), but his understanding of the mechanics of the skill/attribute system was vital in getting me started on GCD. Before I saw his explanations, I didn't know that so much was possible. He was also the first modder to uncap skills and attributes.
We shouldn't forget the people who started things off.

Right, I'm off to gloat heee.gif

I rock. Hey, why am I only... Never mind. tongue.gif

Okay, no BS, there are a lot of people who deserve appreciation. Probably way too many for a hall of statues. Here's what I would suggest instead:
* Create three pretty cool statues/monuments, one for each of the great houses. Make the monument appropriate to the house, and then put it somewhere in the semi-wilderness. E.g., for the Telvanni, put it on one of the islands near Sadrith Mora -- but not on Sadrith Mora itself.
* When the player finds one of the monuments, it shows a little message like "This cool lookin hunk of stone is decicated all of the way cool folks who have made Morrowind the world that it is." and it adds a journal entry. "I found a such and such monument. Maybe I should ask some Telvanni about "way cool folks". (Or maybe "famous people," or something like that instead of "way cool folks".) So, it also adds the "way cool folks" topics.
* Now, if you ask a Telvanni guard about "way cool folks" he'll randomly tell you about one of the way cool folks. Note that Telvanni cool folks won't be unlocked until you've found the telvanni monument.

So for the cool folks topic, you would get a random dialog entry. While splitting things between different houses cuts down on the number somewhat, it's probably still best to use something other than random100 as the random filter. I.e., create your own random number global. AND in the results for each random dialog entry update the random number -- that way if I'm talking to the guard, I can keep asking about "cool folks" and keep getting different answers.

Maybe there would be a separate topic for responses from people, or maybe it could be in the same topic. Or maybe you do without it. (My responses tend to be along the line of, "Thank you, and I'd like to thank [long list of folks]." -- but that's just more appreciation entries.)

So, if you're asking for people to make contributions to the topic, you could ask them to simply provide the text for the dialog entries. Which should be in character, of course -- e.g., a Redoran male guard should probably not be saying, "I just love Silaria's outfits!"

You might also assign topic entries to speakers depending on the nature of the entry. E.g., Telvanni for world hackers, and meta modders; Redoran for weapons, balancing, armor; clothiers for clothing, of course.

So, that's a bit of a change from what you originally suggested, but it's a thought.

And yes, you can include me. biggrin.gif
Take Wrye off the list evillol.sml.gif

Fliggerty perhaps you could even make this a group mod with a bunch of these modding heros helping you in various ways with models, scripting, texturing and more.

Dont forget to add some mention of Bethesda for making this great game

biggrin.gif
Thanks to all who have mentioned me. I am honored. Feel free to include me.

I also want to add one more name to the nominations:

James Baker AKA NekoNeko AKA Lord Sakaki
I keep Sakaki Manor in my mods even though I don't play it any more. I have learned a tremendous amount about scripting from that mod.

James helped pioneer several scripting concepts such as using scripts to create variable choice options in dialog and transportable containers ( creating a type of companion share pre-tribunal ).

And thank you, Fliggerty, for doing your part to increase my therapist's personal net worth. Yet again.
I'm not sure if these folks have been mentioned, I have scanned the variuous lists and if they are there then it's my failing eyesight that is to blame!

Phyntowasp

Star Boi

Andy

Edgar Greyshadow for lending his voice to many great mods.

^d3nN!z, masterdurlag, Arazdor, Manuel G, Daggerfall, Fennias Maxim, Mirdath, Rakhissh, David1406 and anyone else I missed from SureAI for Arktwend and Myar Aranath.

Fandorn Delavie, Lyditsa, Mandamus, Bob_74, Celinha, and Pooky for the Romance mod.

Oops already did Bryss, so I would like to add:
Tommy Khajiit &
Westly

Anyone familiar with CI's forum will know:
Pekka

Some more contributors to this game are:
BadKarma
Xiamara
Dereko

I just knew there were more I would be forgetting and after seeing that list I see how many I missed.

There are a few that are no longer modding that should be there too, or perhaps in the list for hall of fame members.

Pozzo
Silaria
RavynAngel
Thankee kindly those who included me on their lists... I feel most unworthy of such honour when placed alongside many of the names mentioned.

I'd like to add the following, lest we forget:

Zappara

Tundro Walker

RobearBerbil

and not least, TheSiriusSnape for many great mods but mostly for her help and support during the early stages of my learning curve.

There are many others of course but I think they've mostly been mentioned in the preceding lists.
For those poor benighted modders still saddled with an asterix;

Grumblepunk*
QUOTE(Vorwoda_the_Black @ May 1 2006, 09:25 AM) *

One is Grumblepunk, creator of Uvirith Unleashed and House of Mannequins. It was thanks to his help that I was able to join this forum (my ISP had technical issues with the registration confirmation emails...), so I wouldn't be here at all if not for his intervention. Since we're both Telvanni, I am the Mouth of Grumblepunk, in effect. wink.gif

Motoki*
QUOTE(OldeCow69 @ May 1 2006, 10:50 AM) *
* Motoki, more than a pretty face
To the best of my knowledge introduced the concept of globally replacing NPC faces with NPC Replace, and then proceeded to take it to a whole new level with Better Heads, which in combination with BB finally gave us characters as visually appealing as the world they inhabited.

NB: Motoki is no longer a member of these forums afaik, you might try contacting him via Emma's Forum or Perceptual Motion forums where I've seen him post in recent weeks.

Yes, you may feel free to use my name in vain. smile.gif
I'm honored to be on your list, Fliggerty, and I know Grumpy would have been so as well smile.gif.

I have seen in this thread that others have already brought up what also I would like to mention: that there have been several modders who have in various ways improved Morrowind companions. The Other Felix is of course the name that instantly comes to mind for me, as he has, just like Grumpy, continously been working on improving companion behaviour (especially Laura) for several years now.
CdCooley is another name that instantly comes to mind here, both for working on companion scripting and features like companion teleporting, which makes using companions so much easier.

I mentioned these names as well as others (Ulfgeir, Vorwoda, Blackie, Thelys an others) in my PM to you yesterday. But... I actually forgot one name sad.gif. I forgot to mention NekoNeko and his Sakaki Manor, which surely is an excellent mod for vanilla Morrowind companions.

QUOTE

The step-aside function was introduced by Noviere, in a mod called NPCMove. The feature has since then been used on loads of companions, among them 'my' companions and Dixon's Hilda, as well as most of Grumpy's. Noviere's mod is excellent, but is unrelated to companion modding.
I'd say Galsiah has the biggest impact on my gaming.

But since I've just gone into praise-mode, I have to mention Phijama and Vagabond Angel as well. Seems like I do that a lot. biggrin.gif
I'm honored and thrilled to be included. Thank you Princess. And thank you stm - I was really touched that you wanted to do it yourself wub.gif

And, of course, you may include me. (Never did the false humbleness any good anyway wink.gif)

Enjoy.
I felt a little embarressed to be included with such fine company and didn't know quite how to respond in my last post so said nothing.

A long time ago, one of the 'privleges' of producing some work for a mod was to have a 'God' named after me - this left me feeling very uneasy and was something I had to decline on the grounds that it's just not me. I prefer to skulk in the background, upload a plugin/ resource then hide. Recognition is not something I actively seek or particularly want, but I would still like to say thanks all the same.

I'm told I do a very genuine take on 'humbleness', what do you reckon Lady Rae?
You do an excellent humbleness....

And I still think you need to be included. Any list of modders would not be complete without you in it. Please, reconsider. I can understand not wanting to be a god - but a little recognition of your work isn't bad. And it'll make everyone else feel good.
Nuclear dope certainly deserves some credit!
A great guy, and helpful at all times. Great guy!

Rogue_Shadow is also a great guy. Always there to help ya, give comments, or tell you how bad you are at modelling ( wink.gif ) ^-^

The rest I can think of has been mentioned..

Phijama, Vagabondangel, Princess, Korana, Santa_cruz.... I could go on forever.
Everybody I would list has already been listed, except for Kwshipman (created Kahleigh's Retreat, among other things).
Shakti is another one, as well as Daleth (beautiful new book covers) and BlueEagle (pundaabs!!). Don't forget Sil with all the new clothing or Sorcha Ravenlock (I loved her high elf faces!). BadKarma also did some gorgeous clothing. I'm surprised no one has mentioned TommyKhajiit and Kathryn yet for The Glory Road. I think Kagrenac (Kagz) and Glassboy also deserve mention, as do RavynAngel, Sheikizza, Thaedyn Vyr, and Earth_Wyrm.

And probably many many more that I'm forgetting. I doubt I could ever pick just one though.

Me? blush.gif
Well... y'know, I've only ever released two small mods, and I only consider those as 'unofficial' releases anyway.

It's flattering (and I shall surely find someone to gloat to about this), but I don't think I'm in the same league as the other names mentioned.

Thanks, though! blush.gif
I am not so sure that I can add anything to this Tribute except for a "thank you"!

I once was going to, long long ago, play this here game called "Morrowind", I have played daggerfall and even dabbled in Arena, and even have installed it again on my old computer, dowloading it from bethsoft, now i can play it without having my cd-player running ever single second!
[arena runs off of the cd, thus the cd-player runs all of the time]

Then I discovered Mods!

Eventually i got as far as Balmora, then i did other things for awhile and i would come back and add more mods yet again. never ever restarted my game of course.

Then when i read that Oblivion needs winxp to run, i knew that my morrowind will have to DO!
But now how was I going to play mw plus the two expansions? "they say" that there is about from 100 to 200 hours of gameplay there.
would I play morrowind Straight or with mods, I have to make a choice now.

Then I realized what I had added those mods FOR! to make an immersive world, yes, but also to have a feeling for the creative arts of the community. My fps sunk and sunk, as i added yet more mods. I began to choose Imersiveness over fps. Now I know that i might never ever finish the Given gam
