Skydye made an awsome texture "how-to" thread and can be found here.

This is very out dated. A lot of new releases are out now. I can't remember the link to who did.
Maybe you can start a thread about new texture pack comparisons. bubbly.gif

Ok so here is a list of World Retexture threads and pictures. If I forget one, you can call me Lumpy Lizzard Lips.
Thank's, Syrcanus, for the Link to X-Calibur's Comparison charts

I actually started with "Better Looking Morrowind" then tweaked & added many times over with pieces from many other replacers and my own.
I use pieces from lots of different replacers, so I don't think any replacer is any better than another. I can't vote. shrug.gif
I'd remove the poll. It's not a contest. But having a new updated list is good. Don't forget all the great houses castles and cities. foodndrink.gif

EDIT: i'm doing castles and cities right now and i changed the poll
Nice way to easily compare, specially since X-Calibur's texture comparison chart isn't linked anywhere i think. But like Faylynn i also mix my textures together from various texture's released. I am looking for good ground retextures that i wouldn't have to Dl a world retexture pack to get though. Anyone know of any?

Link to X-Calibur's Comparison charts-Not sure if the comparisons are recent though.

Thanks for making this, just found some awesome textures I never knew existed.

How does one make new textures? Is Adobe Photoshop enough to make anything decent looking? Does it open TGAs and does it save DDSs?

The good news is people are making more textures now then ever. So Yes if you want to keep up bookmark.
Heres a link for a free program it will let you open dds textures. So you can view what's in the pac 2d18 ks.

http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm

Now you'll be able to trade textures back and forth so you'll have your own change texture world.

I really don't think it matters, but ThePal's charts are the only resource I know showing FPS.
I just added a couple texture replacers, but if there are any new/old ones I missed, please tell me cause I'm not as active in the forums as before. Thank you.
I wanted to start playing Morrowind again since i got a computer that doesn't sound like a turbine. Before even touching it i have been adding graphic and official mods.
Anyway I will use vibrant Morrowind (couldn't find it last night, thanks!)
But i was wondering about it and/or better looking Morrowind. What does vibrant do for the ashlands? I was thinking about also using better looking morrowind because it makes it less fields of gray. But im a little worried it takes away from the feel when your strolling down beautiful fields and npcs talk about the latest ash storm. It would be nice if it only made less gray and still left some, i guess i might just do that manually. dry.gif

Mostly i just want to know what vibrant does to the ashlands/grayness of the landscape.
You should add Connarys bestiary creature retextures to the list.

Mhhh,
don't know, so many choices....
At least, on the D/L sites like PES, for the golden oldies, one can see the popularity index from both, votes and the number of downloads vs. time since published....

But, one could argue... someone needs to make a start, somewhere, for the just released....
Meh, still learning, no front-runner, me

i cant begin to tell you how helpfull this has been. i noticed that at least one or 2 ppl said that they used bits and pieces from different retexture packs. because i certainly have noticed that i like some aspects of one mods and some from another as well. This doesn't cause problems to mix and match like that?

I'm glad it has helped you.

No not at all. The texture files are all named the same, so when you place them in the textures folder, they overwrite the ones.

IE: I like Vibrant Morrowind, but I like the Land Patterns land textures better. So what I would do is install Vibrant Morrowind first, then overwrite the land textures with Lant Patterns.

Hopefully you understood that wink.gif
I've been searching for the past half-hour for this thread (couldn't remember what it was called), there has to be an easier way...
I was using the combined Visual Packs for a while, then started noticing that alot of packs sometimes offer higher res textures in quite different areas. So i set about simply installing the largest textures in terms of kb/mb. The result was of course a bloody mess. I kicked myself and started over. Getting textures from different packs to fit together well, and look aesthetically pleasing seems pretty hard. Also, some of the textures that i assumed to be of higher quality due to their file size turned out to look pretty blurry. Strange. Ive just downloaded a dds viewer, so i might just reinstall the visual packs and slowly check through what the others have to offer. Of course thats what i shouldve done first time round. Doh.

Forested Morrowind does that; it changes the Ashlands into a forest, adding trees and replacing most (if not all) of the textures.

Actually, I think Green Morrowind adds grass textures, Leafy adds more trees in general, ind Forested adds many more trees. I loved it, but I found that I had a hard time getting around in Ald'ruhn--the framerate was just a bit sad. But it is really lovely.

He did?
Two questions:

1 - Why all texture replacements make every color lighter? The only exception is Darker Morrowind with makes the extreme oppose and make all every color A LOT darker. Some of those textures are really beautiful, aesthetic speaking i would say Better Looking Morrowind is the best. But it's just to bright and non-lore for me. Would be cool if somebody did a texture replacement with high quality and highly detailed textures but with a look based in the own game, concept arts and etc to make it more lore friendly
2 - Does those vegetation mods like Forested Morrowind all make the Ashlands and other desolated places green? Do they change the native morrowind vegetation to a more "european" one? Do they conflict with mods like Balmora Expansion or other mods that delete trees?

I never noticed that it's incredibly brighter. I used this one and nothing seemed out of place or brighter, everything looked just fine. I guess it's a matter of tastes. shrug.gif

I know that Green Morrowind, Leafy Morrowind and Forested Morrowind are adding forests all around the Vvardenfell, yes, they do change present native Morrowind vegetation, but in fact they are all lore-friendly, because they are supposed to show Vvardenfell 1000 years after Dagoth-Ur's defeat, and lore says nothing about that time and vegetation at that time. So I would recommend installing these mods and using them only with characters with which you have already defeated Dagoth-Ur and it's getting a bit boring. But beware - some of these mods will bring your FPS down to a crawl if you have a relatively old computer (i.e., the computer that was bought to be able to run Morrowind).

I never noticed that it's incredibly brighter. I used this one and nothing seemed out of place or brighter, everything looked just fine. I guess it's a matter of tastes. shrug.gif

I'm using the same texture replacer, it's the better one but i feel much could be improved. Like i said Better Looking Morrowind is very beautiful and really high quality but it's just to different. Much could be done while still keeping with Morrowind's feel, just look at the concept art from the booklet that comes with GOTY Edition (A scan is in Silgrad's Tower site).

Ok... would be good if one made a similar mod set in morrowind's timeline tough.
I guess I'm the only one that uses Ultimate Textures Complete, with darknut and connary's stuff overwriting it. Oh, well. I still like it better than anything.

He did?

He was stealing and taking credit for textures he never made.
