hey there,

if anyone out there, like me, likes to read the ingame books then they would welcome this list. Bassically over the years there have been many mods that expand upon morrowinds reading. Mods from adding books from other elderscroll games to new writings and readings.

This is my attempt at locating these mods and storing them in a list which will make it easier for people to find and download them.

HERE IS THE WEBSITE

so here is what i have so far:

Vampire books
Oblivion and LGNPC books
Battlespire books
Daggerfall books
Books of Vvardenfell
Book extracts
20 Books
Tale of the Devious Trader

If we don't find any more book mods soon, we will have to force someone to write some more! Eh...Why is everyone looking at me? tongue.gif

I've been meaning to put out a Books of Vvardenfell II, perhaps after I get my current mod out the door. I'm going to write more books and add any that other people would like to contribute. smile.gif

Oh, and this list should make a note if the books are Elder Scrolls lore friendly or not. I know for sure that 20 books is not, with it's transcribed H.P. Lovecraft and such. There's another one that transcribes the entire works of J.R. Tolkien which I saw once and never bothered to download. I can't remember where I found it. tongue.gif

I would consider Fief's guide to saltrice and Tale of the Devious Trader lore friendly though. Maybe a short description of each mod for this list would be a good idea too. You can't always tell from a name ( 20 books is books of what? ). heee.gif

EDIT: oh and Midgetalien, I just downloaded your vampire books mod. I just wrote some the other day for my mod after desperately looking for such a thing and not finding anything, lol. If you would like to contribute any books to BOV2 I would love to include them. smile.gif
List updated biggrin.gif
Oh, and there's also a book out there that's the complete barbarian's ABCs. It's really good. I can't remember where it can be found at the moment though.

yeah feel free to add them to BOV2. you may wish to read them first and see if they are any good lol.

i am setting up a website where this list will be hosted. I will be adding short descriptions of what they are, if i reconmend them and if they are lore friendly! Theres tons of alchemist ones as well so i need to test all of them and give a reconmendation as to which one is good (not the best as they are all good books biggrin.gif)

EDIT: yes princess stomper did make it. added it to the list biggrin.gif

27 mods on the list so far adding about 50-100 more books to the game!!!

Ah yes, it is indeed Princess Stomper's mod. smile.gif

Complete ABC's for Barbarians

Any I include in BOV2 will be edited for spelling and grammar, but any changes will be run by the original modders first. I'm not going to mess with anyone's content. If I really don't like it, I just won't include it. wink.gif

I've read your Vampire Books though and they're good. I did notice that you spelt Telvanni "Telivanni" though. You need to remove the extra "i". smile.gif

As for some of the alchemy books, I remember a couple of those on the list ( can't remember which ones ) are just quick lists for gamers and not very immersive for roleplaying. I think just noting that will let people decide whether they're "good" or not for themselves. That's all some people want, other people ( like me ) like they're books to be a good read, even if they're main purpose is to contain useful info.

cool glad you liked them biggrin.gif

i was thinking of making a mod called "Ajara's Published Writings" basically turns her notes about them flowers and mushrooms into books along with listing their alchmy ablities and where to find them

You should probably revise that amount - Oblivion and LGNPC Books alone adds 131 new books!
56 from Oblivion, 49 from Daggerfall (all of them), and 2 from Redguard. Plus Fief's Guide to Saltrice (since it was in an LGNPC mod) and a Scholars Guide to Daedric among others.

bonk.gif

you heard the man! about 200+ books then!
Not exactly "book mods" Clothiers of Verdenfell & Childern of Morrowind both add numerous books "A Ladies Fairy Tale" in CoV & a host of kids books in CoM. NoM add a series of cookbooks but that's probably too specialized.
bump!
he he, Princess stomper made Complete ABC's at my request, LOL.
SHe rocks.
I have Princess Stomper to thank for my literacy. Before that I just used to like running around the Ashlands cracking skulls and eating rats and getting stripped naked by witches.
Here is another one:

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View...tail&id=442

Dibella's Pillow Lessons, I haven't found them yet when playing, always forget to go look for them so not sure how they are but I love books to fill my libraries up with...

Maria
I mentioned in the forum: how diaspointed i was with the original book, and if anyone had made a mode to fix it, and she totally ran with it.

There is another version (Made by someone else) it had no pictures in it (i found it by accient and never downloaded)

I'm looking for more picture books.
I tryed to make one once, but morrowind's very pkky about the picture sizes and number of colours and stuff.
How anyone would have the patience/skill to do 23 of thekm is beyond me
(I supose there is a trick, you can proably automate it with infranview)

BTW does the Book rotate patcher work (i've never tried it)
I think it would be cool if someone made a "preliminary" mod composed of various stories about Legendary creatures in the Elderscrolls (some could be lore-based creatures, others made up but made to fit into lore), which could then be expanded upon with several mods that add these creatures (and their own questlines) into the game, in a manner similar to that of the Udyrfrykte (sp? I'm not going to say what it is incase someone hasn't actually met it), Draugr Lord, and Dark/black bipedal mammoth thing which I can't remember the name of in Bloodmoon, but spread throughout the land (without a specific main story, although maybe a big story could be woven around the separate ones). There could be stories about evil necromancers, or riddling dragon-like-creatures (but not dragons), or maybe even a benevolent lich (like the draugr lord) or an evil magistrate, which you could eventually meet ingame Beowulf style. There could also be cool environments added in this way too, (faraway islands, with Wizard's Island style trip interruptions by pirates or storms).
In anycase, I think the idea of small adventure-themed fan-fictions (with pictures too smile.gif) could be turned into something big ingame.
Speaking of books and lore. After Daggerfall. Bethesda had a hard time with books. They made so many for Daggerfall. they could not follow their own lore. So they asked the fans to read them and help so they can make more games. If anyone can add all the official books and make a lore friendly release that would be one great release.
is this all the book mods that are out there?
well this has been around for a few weeks now. if no one has anyother books to add to it then i am going to work on the website biggrin.gif
Ok heres the site! enjoy!
please be aware that i have yet to add brief descriptions biggrin.gif

That is what Oblivion and LGNPC Books does, I like to think - All the Daggerfall, Redguard, and Oblivion ("existing" during the Morrowind time frame) books. I missed only one - Arena. Actually Arena doesn't have any books, but it does have a bunch of riddles that could be compiled into a book, which I am doing for the future LGNPC Tribunal.

There are tons of books in daggerfall. So it's hard to include all stories. So we are looking at a series of books That each elder scrolls adds to but doesn't include the last. Daggerfalls, Redguard and so on each have new books. This is a good project I love the idea.
Not sure if it really counts, but TR adds bucketloads.
It works very well actually. You load book rotate ( and there's three esps for MW, TR and BW ) and then use the patcher to fix all the books in your current save-game.
*cough* bump biggrin.gif
Heh ... thanks for the mentions smile.gif

I also did Fairytales of Vvardenfell as a standalone mod, originally made as an add-on for Lokken Mountain - it was subsequently included whole in COM, along with a couple more books.

ahh an elricm link sad.gif i will add it to the list, but i am afraid i cant access elricm. so would you mind sending me the direct link to download it some where else as i would like it in my game too biggrin.gif
You've missed one of the best book mods - Vitelius Estate.

I also really liked the extract of Bram Stoker's Dracula in the top room of Bran Castle in Ald Vendras - creepy tongue.gif

There seem to be several mods over at PES (search under "BOOKS") that aren't listed here - like the library of Joseph Curwen.

thanks princess! downloaded it strightaway biggrin.gif
gives me more reading to do in my game happy.gif
i need to make my own personnel library for my game...too many books lol.
Isn't the Players Guide to the Empire (9 volumes, the pre-Oblivion version) with new textures just for it included in Princess Stompers mod, Ald Redaynia Extended?
justs a little bump.
I made my own, called Attempted Resurgences, and I'm making a much larger one as we speak, should be done in a month or two.
“The Vvardenfell Libraries”

Ok... all the books aren't really lore friendly but it does add over 1000 of them smile.gif
