For anyone that has downloaded new animations like Oshiel's Animation Replacer or Axel's Sexy Walk, the instructions given require you to create a mod and make a new character to use the animations. But I have figured out a way of editing existing saved games to incorporate the new animations.

These are the steps I performed:

1) Download and install the Morrowind Enhanced Editor.

2) Download an animation mod (for example, I used Axel's Sexy Walk)

3) Extract the animation files to the Morrowind/Data Files/Meshes folder. I also opted to rename them, since Axel used cumbersome filenames. For example, mine are "Sexy.NIF", "XSexy.kf" and "XSexy.nif".

4) Backup the save game you want to edit (!).

5) Start up the Enhanced Editor and use it to open the saved game you wish to edit.

6) On the left hand list, scroll down to Non Player Characters. Click on it and a sublist will open. Navigate to NPC_player and click on it.

7) Right click on NPC_player and select "insert subrecord". Select MODL from the list that appears.

8) Scroll down a bit until you see the MODL in the left hand list (it should be after the list of various "NPCS" entries) and select it. In the text box on the right, under "ModelPath" enter the name of the animation file to use. In my case, it was "Sexy.NIF".

9) Save the file.

10) Load your save in Morrowind and play the game! smile.gif

I haven't tested this with Oshiel's Animation Replacer yet, but I imagine it should work with exactly the same procedure.
I just tested this with Oshiel's Animation Replacer and it works too.

Btw, does anyone know if there are any other animation replacers out there? The two above are the only ones I know of.

RX31 released NPC idle animatiosn, but those are the only two that affect the player that I know of. Animators for MW are few and far between.
Thanks for the how to 1244.gif 1244.gif 1244.gif

Pity. Oh well, at least the option is there for people who want to use them...
Most of the animation work that I know was done for NPC idles: the animations NPCs use whenever they're not talking or moving around (stretching, shifting, putting a hand on hip, etc). It would be nice if there were other animation replacers, but it's going to take somebody willing to learn Blender or 3DMax for that to happen. (*hint* *hint*)

Copied the post (by downloading the thread, actually), so that I'll never (hopefully!) lose these instructions.

Thanks bunches for sharing. foodndrink.gif
I see no sublist when I click on Non Player Characters sad.gif

Oh wait, never mind. Stupid problem on my part.
I really like this replacer. But i have a couple questions. 1) When my toon is idle, she walks about 10 paces and loops back to start the routine all over. Is this normal with this replacer? 2)If i watch my toon run in thirs person, My toon just floats across the ground. Meaning she takes no steps. Is this normal? I dont know whats normal with an animation replacer like this. My toon is not broken by any means. Just wanted to check and see if it was meant to be this way. Thanks for any incite on this.
