Well, a simple question really, but where would I be able to find documentation or tutorials for merging plugins together?
It would seem you fair folk have been making so much amazing content that I somehow hit the 255 mod limit. =)

I've been browsing around and come across topics pointing to Tes4Edit or Tes4Gecko, have downloaded the latter, but now seem to be having issues setting it up. ("Could not create the Java virtual machine"? )

I know I'm asking for much, but even a nudge in the right direction would be particular helpful in possibly merging some redundant, simple mods, like the ones that add a few armors here and there.


(I've already started stripping down the count by trying to tag as many Graphic Imports as I could through Wrye Bash, but t doesn't seem to be enough.)

I'm no expert, but from my understanding, you could get rid of Border-Regions-Disabled.esp by making the change directly within the Oblivion.ini file.

All addons that are merged in your bashed patch (green text in wry bash) can be disabled on your load list (will turn into a green + instead of a green v) since they are 'merged' into your bashed patch.

Keep in mind I'm just a noob at it but I'm sure someone with more knowledge will correct me if I'm wrong.

According to the UESP wiki, yes.
I merge ESPs all the time. I tend to merge extra optional plugin file into a single one (all my MMM optional plugins are merged), I have 8 posing mods merged into a single ESP, all Cobl optional files are merged... and more.

you can usually merge any 2 separate plugins if they have no identical formIDs, BUT not everything that can be merged should be merged.

It's very much a trial and error process.

Aye, it's something I used to do by hand with the Morrowind CS back a few years, but I was hoping to find help for TES4Edit / TES4Gecko so that I can hopefully do it a bit less haphazardly.
Especially for those little plugins that add a door to a new indoor cell shop, or just a new chest somewhere for new armor.

The WryeBash documentation says it would mark as mergeable if it doesn't include new instances of stuff (or so I seem to understand so far), which is why I'm afraid of setting stuff like JQ's Fur Hats to {{BASH:Merge}} manually.

Thank you! I had somehow completely forgotten to do the mark mergeable step, and that along trimmed my list down by 20~30 mods. Gave me enough room to enable a few more, among others the Bashed Patch itself.

I've updated the load order manually for the ones FCOMHelper didn't recognize, but it'd be grand if someone could quickly glance it over for anything I might have missed.

That's sadly a problem for me, TES4Gecko refuses to start.
Followed the instructions in the readme file and made the shortcut target "javaw -xmx1024m -jar F:\TES4Gecko\TES4Gecko.jar", but I keep getting the same error. :C

get the latest Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.6, that'll fix it. you'd probably be able to run it with a simple double-click on TES4Gecko.jar .

For the record, running on Windows XP, 2gb of RAM, so I wasn't expecting 1024m to be a problem D: If that's it anyways.

I tried starting Oblivion to test what I currently have as active, but in chargen I get this :

I'm guessing Beautiful People and Capucine's Character Expansion must be conflicting somehow, as only normal races (and Ren's elves) seem to be affected, while the Ice Elves / Wolf Elves that I needed Capucine's for have correct eyes, as do the Tabaxi, but that was the last race mod I installed.


Also, even running Oblivion through the OBSE Loader, for some reason, when going through startup messages in jail, one of the mods is reporting that OBSE isn't running.
I usually get No-CD patches for my games now to avoid scrapping my discs through manipulation (I managed to go through 4 sets of Morrowind ones back in the day, and I'm on my 3rd for Oblivion now...) would that be a source of conflict with OBSE?

For OBSE, I'm currently running "v0015 beta 2", should I downgrade back to v14?
Doomie, how well does your game run with that load order? Do you just use FCOMHelper then hand plant the others where they seem appropriate?

I couldn't exactly tell you how well it runs outside, but so far the little bit I've seen of the Imperial Prison, it doesn't give me much trouble. Takes a bit to load initially though.
Once I can manage to get th OBSE problem out of the way, I'll be free to get further into the game, because right now I believe something tries to use it and crashes me after a mesage saying OBSE isn't loaded (even though I go through the OBSE Loader shortcut on my desktop)

So far, yes, I've used FCOMHelper and placed the other unrecognized mods myself according to where other, similar mods where.
The only unrecognized one I changed with disregard to normal mod loadorder placement (as listed on Dev_akm's FCOM expanded loadorder example) was Atmospheric Loading Screens, so it could override OOO's screens.


However, this was my last stable oblivion mod build, when I went modcrazy back in February :

At the time, I only had 1gb of RAM, but essentially had the same comp. Dualcore 3.0ghz with a PCI-E-inserted GeForce8600GTS
Ran clean as a whistle, minimal to no crashes, constant 20~40FPS outside and 30~50 inside, on HDR 1280x1024 noAA, most settings on max.
Well, I've renamed my patched OB executable and tried again with my gamedisc using the backup original I had made, and now OBSE runs fine. So I guess that's one problem stamped out.
Seeing as I believe Capucine's and Beautiful People are conflicting, I'll see if installing a merged compilation of both will fix it.

Other than that, everything's working fine now, just googly eyes. And a ton of messageboxes when I start the game but I guess that's normal with all the new feature mods. XD

If/when I get outside and don't get any bugs, I'll post back how well the game is running for people such as John Irenicus who are curious. =)

For your googly eyes problem search the board for "beautyful people problem" and user "bg2408". Then you should get some help. In short the problem is the Elaborate Eye's eye meshes and a very badly set path. sad.gif

Also, something I discovered recently while installing FCOM that I didn't realize was possible, is that if you select all your mods in Wrye Bash, then hit "mark mergeable" it only marks the mods that ARE mergeable, as mergeable.

I got rid of probably 10-15 plugin files that way. Unfortunately after installing FCOM the FCOM plugins are using up those slots again. biggrin.gif

Anyways, I've manually deleted all of the Capucine mod eye-meshes, hopefully to get Oblivion to revert to the default ones.
Gonna try installing the compilation of BP2.7 that features it, in hopes of it still working as a prereq to the Ice/Wolf elves.

Well, the Wrye Bash link already explains why this is happening to you.

Workaround: Install the original Elaborate Eyes, load them after any Beautiful People stuff, bash your plugins accordingly, do not tag BP with eyes tag.
